There is a differences between pond pumps ,and swimming pool pumps. These two types of pumps are not the same. Swimming pool pumps are designed to be used in a on and off routine, when ever you turn it on. A pond pump is designed to run non stop 24 hours a day. A swimming pool pump is designed with high water pressure in mind. A fish pond water pump is designed to optimize the flow rate of the water as opposed to pressure. Typically a pond pump spins at half the RPM's a swimming pool pump is designed to spin. Pond pumps are more economical to run 24 hours a day, and are designed to run drastically cheaper than swimming pool pumps are designed to run.
